Waiting for the 123rd United States Open to begin at Los Angeles Country Club is like being Dorothy about to open the front door for the first time in Oz. There are many wonderful major championship venues in the world, but few share the visual ensemble of George Thomas’s creation. The North Course will host…
Wedged in-between the Memorial and US Open, we find The RBC Canadian Open. For back-to-back weeks, we will crown a national champion. One of the oldest events in golf, this tournament has a 117-year history. Oakdale Golf and Country Club becomes the thirty-seventh course to host Canada’s national championship. A private club nestled in the suburban area…
Jack is back and so are 120 of his closest friends (for this year). The Memorial Tournament presented by Workday is an annual rite of passage to the start of summer golf. Gone are frost delays as we welcome the second half of major championship season. The first edition of this yearly invitational on the PGA TOUR…
Colonial Country Club is hosting their 77th edition of the Charles Schwab Challenge this week. A mainstay on the PGA TOUR, this event started back in 1946. The host venue was the playground of Ben Hogan and so many other of the great Dallas, Texas players throughout the history of the game. The solid tradition continues with…
There are two main conversation points this week in Rochester: the conditions and the course. For the opening narrative, let’s concentrate on the conditions. Ninety-nine of the Top 100 in the OWGR have descended upon northwestern New York to decide the season’s second major championship. Oak Hill Country Club’s East Course will be the venue…
The PGA TOUR is taking a connecting flight to Rochester through Dallas this week for the AT&T Byron Nelson. Another suspect schedule spot, the guys have a birdie fest to contend with one week prior to the season’s second major championship. The TOUR was building some serious momentum heading toward the PGA. Zurich, Mexico, and Wells all…
Hope springs eternal on the PGA TOUR in Charlotte. Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm have decided to skip the same designated event! It might sound like hyperbole, but these two have dominated the elite events to date in 2023. There have been six designated tournaments, the Masters, and PLAYERS Championship. Of those eight events, Rahm…
The drama of professional golf moves back to the west coast. Early 80s television used to connect Los Angeles and Puerta Vallarta with a weekly cruise along the coast in the Pacific Princess. The two cities are joined again as the PGA TOUR’s next stop is the Mexico Open at Vidanta and the LPGA tees it up…
We all love a little walk-up music. That’s just one of the many unique pieces of the puzzle that makes up the Zurich Classic. The only official partner event on the PGA TOUR, 80 teams will be competing this week for $8.6 million dollars in purse money.
Congratulations to Jon Rahm for a dominant win at the Masters. Not only did he start his tournament with a four putt, but he played through the worst weather and still won by four. Thankfully, the forecast this week in Hilton Head won’t be nearly as challenging.
